Mounting Large Format Prints made easy !!!

Mounting Large Format Prints made easy !!!
hello i'm david getter
and I'd like to give a quick shout out to all of my students have taken my
classes on large format Mounting Large Format Prints made easy !!! in fact last year we celebrated are 500 state it
well today I'd like to share with you one of my new inventions
it's called a print alignment tool or
Tyler ruler now I know what you're thinking
looks pretty much like a common ruler but stick around there some
very interesting points you need to say to show you how the Tyler ruler is used
for aligning large format prints well lately I have Sam
color postcard printing and I have chosen to work with rowlands versa cam BP

it's an absolutely fantastic ego solvent inkjet printer
and of course will need a mounting substrate this case I'm just working
with some happens thick black hair com
up
okay with everything set up here on the table were now ready to take a close up
look
at the Tyler ruler and how easy this tool makes aligning large format prints
here Manning materials just before we get a close-up view
I want to cover couple a basic things massive you will take a straight ahead
kinda long straight line two years that for the initial alignment when you're
mounting
through the laminator the problem with that is any little bit helps
skewing r-ala squareness that you have with your board
or your printed image is only going to result in a small amount aboard showing
which you're gonna have to trim off in depending on your cutting capabilities
this can be a real challenge shaving off a small amount the best practices
always print your images with the bullied either
Porter Ranch or an 8-inch blade oversized
the actual mounting material from there
you can use the Tyler ruler to actually see the edge of the mounting material
even though your print is physically larger than the board
and you won't have to use a light table which by the way that work
yeah your image as opaque so let's cut to a close up view
and see the Tyler ruler in action well with the year so far overhead care where
you can get a close-up look and see what it's like you're actually he's in the
tile earlier cell
the built-in edge detector and passed through area
actually correspond with the edge finder an R one eight and one quarter inch
overhang registration marks so simply use a towel a real our place it on the
table and slide it that makes your board
the edge detector will automatically show you with the
corresponding edge finder where the age at the port is here as I slide the
digital print in the place
I'm gonna line it to the quarter inch registration law how quickly slip but
I'll a ruler around to the age
and then slide the print down again till I get to the corresponding quarter inch
registration mark
or the quarter inch blade that I printed on the elite
I'll check this side one more time make a fine adjustment
and there we have exact registration
have a quarter-inch overhang your nafta Hutton pack to find the edge if you're
bored
missile actually become my rotation point as we slide the ruler to the other
and
to line up by digital print well now that you've seen how the Tyler ruler
works at class let's go ahead and position it spread on this man a
substrate
in real time so that you can see the steps that are involved the first thing
that will want to hear
as the folder print back or folder release liner back
and former crease our way across this leading edge right here
will turn this over because this will be the ads that goes into the laminator for
now using the Tyler ruler on this and
I'll actually slide it up underneath until it finds the board
out place they blade at that one quarter-inch overhang mark leave the
ruler to the side
or the bottom the print check the side one more time
and this becomes a rotation point I slide the relief for the other hand
and aligned this to the quarter it's mark
an hour prints and exact alignment I'll take my palm here
and the press this leading-edge attacking the prayer
in perfect alignment to the board if you like to find out more information
on how to get a Tyler ruler just check out the nets at the end to this video
i'm dave getter thanks for watching *** ***
